Dreamy Tulips is a truly stimulating visual experience! This piece incorporates many contrasting shapes and diverse sets of lines that make it very visually appealing. It uses bold, rounded lines that keep the mine moving across the canvas as well as straight lines and geometric, square-ish shapes that provide a dynamic, modern background. These different styles contrast one another in manner that is both fascinating and beautiful rather than strange and out of touch. The opposing lines and shapes create a balance that make the painting a soothing and elegant addition to any room helping to strike a balance between the busy world outside and the sanctuary of your home. The subject of the piece is a simple but graceful series of flowers, their petals slowly shifting to reveal the beautiful bud within. It is a subject that is delicate and soothing to view, but it's unique, whimsical presentation in this piece makes it more fun to engage with and adds a buoyancy to the wall that it graces. It's colors are vibrant and it's lines are made bold with heavy black lining that make the soft subject matter really pop. The presentation of the piece is also tasteful and interesting, giving the subject a more luminous glow. The three tulips depicted in this piece are spread out over three separate canvases that , while they are homogeneous in shape, vary in color and depict the movement of the subject in a way that is unusual and moving. The three canvases are distinct enough to stand on their own as pieces of art, but together they create an elegant, moving and organic series. The three canvas design allows for a great many possibilities to display this unique piece- the separate pieces can be reorganized, and hung in a variety of shapes, a horizontal line or a triangular clusters. The pieces can even be separated and hung throughout a home or office. To view a great many more original canvas paintings that share some of the bold and distinct qualities of this one, try exploring our Landscape Canvas
gallery. One piece that in particular that might appeal to you if you enjoy the organic and diverse shapes and bold colors of Dreamy Tulips is Sunsari Sundown
, a beautiful painting that will strike similar chords in any art lover. About the Author

Too late for Tulips in Michigan?
I have tulip bubs that were bought last summer but never planted in the fall. They have been in my basement all winter in the original packaging. Is it too late for them? I live in Michigan. I was hoping to put them in two large planters I have and put them outside, but I don’t know if they will grow. Any advice would be appreciated
If it makes any difference the room is always dark, 64 degrees and relitive humidity is 33%
Jill,
try putting them in the freezer for a couple of weeks...then plant outside...by simulating the cahnging weather, they may come up and bloom...
I've done it here in SC with good results before..
good luck

There is nothing more bedazzling than an open field of flowers reaching out from the ground to caress the sun. As any amateur or professional photographer would claim, flowers have always been a staple subject in photography classes, being delivered by the bulk to the studio or having hobbyists going out to various flower markets.
If your conditions for shooting flowers are fixed by a studio, checking the fresh batch of delivery helps you segregate the worn flora from those that can be used. Damaged petals, impurities in the color and how the stems curve are a few things you can look at.
The general guidelines for shooting flowers are really a reflection of the basics of photography. In sum, a photographer should first of all, identify the subject: are you shooting the entire flower arrangement, or are you just highlighting a portion of your subject. Determining your subject will depend on the context of your shoot. Usually, straight out product shots involves having to shoot the entire flower arrangement plus the vase to see the subject in its entirety. Lifestyle shots do not require having to show the entire subject from bud to stem to vase and would rather settle for a creative execution.
Determining the subject also entails the use of some photography tips. The use of patterns or “abstracting” flowers is a common tip that you can never go wrong with. Rather than highlighting the flower as well, a flower it would be interesting to see the flower as a mere shape. This means highlighting the flower’s petal outline, going up close and focusing on the structure of the veins, or going wide and taking a row of flowers as they shoot towards the sky.
A tip when shooting veins is to have a natural backlight behind the flower (an artificial light source like candles or house lights or best of all - natural, but not direct sunlight) to highlight the lines and patterns The end result is a play with shapes and lines that “lead” your eyes to a certain part of the photo. An example of the leading lines technique would be to highlight petal veins that lead your eyes towards the center of the flower bud, which is your main subject. Another example would be to shoot the flower from its side with the stem leading up to the flower bud.
Using leading lines and abstraction techniques are two simple ways to identify and style your subject, specifically with flowers.

Abstract Flower Questions
What is the title of this Picasso painting?
I need to find an image of it, and I can't even remember the title. Here are the facts:
It shows a painter (presumably Picasso) at an easel painting.
A woman (presumably Picasso's mistress/model) is laying down, holding a flower.
If you look at what the painter is painting, it is a flower, not the model.
If I remember right, it was well into his abstract cubist time, but I still remember the subject being obvious. Any leads would be appreciated.
It's not this one, is it?

I doubt it but It's the closest I could find...Good luck!
Wedding attire? Is this ok, even though it's white?
One of my second cousins are getting married, and I bought an outfit a while ago that is dressy and I haven't had a chance to wear it yet. It's a mid-thigh dress with an abstract blue, green and yellow flower pattern. It has a black band under the bust and does a funky halter thing in the back, so I would need to wear a sweater type thing as a cover up. The one I bought with the dress is a white button up with cap sleeves and is 4 inches shorter than waist-length.
I'm not sure what the dress code is, but this seems like a good blend between formal and casual. I know you aren't supposed to wear white unless it's your wedding, but it's not a completely white outfit. Is the cardigan ok?
The cardigan will be fine.

Put simply, oil seeps are naturally occurring oil and natural gas “springs” which rise from oil reservoirs within the earth and emerge at the surface. Seeps usually contain some mixture of natural gas, crude oil, water and asphaltum, which is a thick substance commonly known as tar. Similar to the manner in which freshwater springs on the earth’s surface originate from collected water underground, oil seeps originate from underground collections of oil that have accumulated within porous rock and have been contained by impermeable rock.
Oil seeps occur both on shore and under water, and provide valuable insight about the location of oil reservoirs deep within the earth. Since we have yet to develop a one hundred percent accurate way of determining the location of underground oil reservoirs, the presence of oil seeps provides valuable clues that can reduce the risk of wasted capital for oil drilling endeavors by companies such as Western Pipeline Corporation. The first project believed to have been dedicated to drilling for oil, led by Edwin Drake, took place in Titusville, Pennsylvania, in an area that was chosen in part because of the known oil seeps.
Oil seeps provide a natural resource which has been used by humans for various purposes throughout history, long before the advent of commercial drilling as we know it today. Native Americans are believed to have used resources collected from oil seeps for such purposes as lantern fuel, lubricant for wagon wheels and adhesive for weapons and canoes centuries ago. Asphaltum from seeps is also believed to have been used by such civilizations as face paint and for decorative additions to bowls and jewelry.
Oil seeps on land, though they may only release small amounts of oil and be difficult to see, provide scientists with important clues about the underground environment and the potential of an oil reservoir being located beneath. Likewise, oil seeps in the ocean are evidence of possible oil reservoirs below the sea floor, which modern oil drilling technology is now capable of extracting. Oil and natural gas released through vents in the ocean floor float and collect on the surface of the water, often forming oil covered natural gas bubbles and eventually a film of oil on the surface, making them easy to locate. Over time, large amounts of oil collect on the surface that eventually become visible from satellite images. Combined with information from other technologies, satellite analysis of oil seeps can provide scientists important data about the type of oil that is present as well as the potential for successful excavation.
The presence of oil seeps leading to further exploration has resulted in the discoveries of numerous productive oil reservoirs in the past. Without the natural clues about subsurface activity provided by oil seeps, we may have never discovered oil and its many commercial uses that are so common today.

Original Modern Oil Questions
chevron vs. arco gas?
im just wondering about this...
is chevron usually better gas than arco or other gas stations?
I know chevron has like a cleaning additives inside the gas called techron.
But I have been hearing such things from some people that i know or some of my friends that if i use arco gas regulary (which is one of the cheapest gas) then my car engine will go and meaning my engine fail in which i'll have to replace or do major engine repairs or overhauls. another meaning is that it'll harm my engine and won't last long.
i just want to know if this is just a myth like the 3000 miles oil change in other words false or if this could be or actually true.
additionally i drive a 1990 mazda miata and my original owners manual says "87 octane or higher" like lot of modern cars and REGULAR civics NOT si's
I hope i'm using the right gas since the owners manual says so.
I use Arco gas almost exclusively and have NEVER had ANY kind of problems with ANY car I own or HAVE owned, including a GMC pickup with 250,000 miles, a Toyota Tundra with 105,000 mi, a Toyota Camry with 97,000 mi, a GMC van with 140,000 mi, a GMC Suburban with 160,000 mi
Don't worry about the brand of gas, and use what octane your owner's manual says to use.

I wish to purchase a KA-BAR knife, I will be using this as a do everything type knife, the knife will be abused. Given this which is the best KA-BAR to get? The original 1095 steel KA-BAR, the "Next Generation" 440a steel KA-BAR, or the D2 steel KA-BAR. Also for a do everything knife should I get the KA-BAR in a straight blade or partially serrated? I was thinking about just getting the 1095 steel KA-BAR and putting on a few coats of black spray paint, one of my friends (a former Marine) recommended that. Thank You for the help.

Any idea how much this painting is worth (with pictures)?
I bought this at an estate sale for $65 and I just wanted to know how much it was worth. It looks like an original (all of the paint on it looks applied with a pallet knife but it could be a print) but there is no signature that I can see. It's about 5ft by 3ft. Here is the link:
Why wouldn't there be a signature? Is it possible it is below the frame? (see all 5 pictures for details)
It definitely has texture all over it. I looked at the back and the canvas extends all the way to the frame (so it couldn't hide a signature). I wonder why it wouldn't have a signature.
It will be obvious if it's a print because there will be no texture at all to it- if you touch it it will be flat. If it clearly has actual paint the it's an original. it's easily possible that the signature is below the paint- the canvas isn't necessarily on the original frame. I'd take it to either an art dealer for a valuation or a restorer to see if it's on a new frame.

Amongst all other painting genres, landscape painting is the most popular. There might be numerous reasons for the same but one of the main reasons is its beauty and comprehensibility. Unlike modern or abstract painting, landscape paintings project no absurd or symbolical meaning. People do not have to stress their minds to find out any hidden meaning behind the painting. All they need to do is look and soak in the beauty of a marvelous piece of art.
Painting a beautiful landscape can be easy if you keep in mind some simple tips. First you should understand the purpose of creating a landscape painting and how intensely you can move the spectator through your work. A landscape painting should make the onlookers feel as if they belong to the place portrayed. The landscape should effuse such brilliance that viewers are compelled to say, “Wish I was there!”
The first trick to attain such effect is through use of clarity. For instance, portray thick fog over some hills in the distance and let it fade in the front. Another trick is to show a winding path, a creek, a meander, or a trail. This makes people feel as though they are deep within the painting. The last trick is to play the game of size to your advantage. Painting large trees in the front but gradually diminishing their sizes at the back creates the feel of a vast landscape.
Landscapes are not photographic representations- this is an important lesson to remember. If you think you do not like the color of the flowers, then change it. If you prefer a bird in the sky or a dark gloomy evening with no people in the background, you have every right to give full expression to your imagination. The only purpose of creating landscape paintings is to offer aesthetic pleasure through a visually appealing landscape. Hence, realism does not have great priority in landscape paintings.

Original Landscape Painting Questions
Claude monet Lithograph print (one of many printed in USA company)?
Does anyone know how much a lithograph print of landscape near zaandam is worth. It has a printed signature in the bottom right hand corner and GCL 523 Litho in USA so I am assuming it is a lithograph of the original painting. Thanks for all the kind answers.
Market value. Lithographic prints with printed signatures are just fancy posters. The value would depend on the size of the production and the rarity of the image or the commemoration value for some event. It should be a value set by the copy-right owners retail price.
That's what I bought as a border for a flower bed. But I didn't like the original color so I painted them white. That was boring, so I tried splashing some dark red paint on it. That looked even worse, so now I need creative ideas to make these look nice.
I may just repaint them in that dark red color which matches the mulch, but even that seems so boring.
Can you think of any creative ways for me to paint these? Keep in mind I have limited skills.
Or maybe it doesn't have to be paint, but it has to be something that'll last outdoors.
Do you have shutters or an accent paint on your house? You could try to match your trim. Black or dark brown might look good.
